The Rainbow Trail is a convenient and popular trail near Whistler Village that takes you to Rainbow Lake as well as the Rainbow-Sproatt Flank Trail, Rainbow Falls, Hanging Lake, Madeley Lake, Beverley Lake, Rainbow Mountain... and even Whistler Olympic Park if you are determined. Plenty of birds can be heard and seen along the trail and though black bears frequent the area, they are infrequently spotted due to their migration down into the valley. You will likely be able to access the internet and this map if you have a data plan, however saving this image may be a good idea especially if you are venturing out beyond Rainbow Lake toward Beverley Lake where the trail is hard to find and follow. Hanging Lake is nice, deep forest lake in the middle of nowhere. The Rainbow Lake Trail is one of the most accessible and iconic hikes in the Whistler area. Walk down past the big rock and over the bridge to where the large wooden sign is located. You will be a bit disheartened, however, when you arrive at the lake and see a picnic table. There is decent camping available nearby at Hanging Lake as well as Beverley Lake in the direction of Rainbow Mountain . Go through Function Junction to Alta Lake Road. There is a parking area at the edge of Alta Lake Road right at the trailhead. There is a new trail junction that is blocked off just beyond the bog area, which will probably join the main trail once it's completed. There are several cable and suspension bridges, 21 Mile Creek, a large waterfall, scenic old-growth forest, and views of Blackcomb before reaching the lake itself. The lake provides the water supply for Whistler so there is no camping, swimming, or bathing allowed, and absolutely no pets. To reach Beverley, bear left of the route to Rainbow Mountain and follow the valley. Continue along the trail as it keeps steadily climbing through the forest until it eventually reaches a series of old, wooden boardwalks that cross a bog. It is located about five minutes into the Rainbow Trail and your best bet to find it is to keep bearing right along the first couple trail branches. Jun 7, 2020 - Rainbow Lake is one of Whistler's most scenic and prestine alpine lakes as the 8km hiking trail follows 21 Mile Creek, past Rainbow Falls, and through Whistler's watershed. At 3.9km turn left onto Alpine Way, then at the next stop sign turn left onto Rainbow Drive. Dogs are not allowed at Rainbow Lake due to the lake being part of Whistler's watershed. There are plenty of other excellent, dog friendly hiking options around Whistler.
